5 Tips for Starting Big School
Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone for children and their families. As your little learner prepares to leave Kreation Kidz and step into this new chapter, we’ve put together five tips to help make the transition to “big school” smooth and positive.
1. Establish a Routine Early

Kindergarten days often have a structured schedule. Start adjusting your child’s routine now to align with their new school timetable. Encourage consistent wake-up, meal, and bedtime habits to help them feel prepared and energized for their new daily routine.
2. Practice Independence

Fostering independence builds confidence for kindergarten. Practice tasks like:
• Opening their lunchbox and drink bottle.
• Packing and unpacking their backpack.
• Putting on and taking off their shoes.
These small skills will help them feel more capable and ready to take on their new environment.
3. Visit the School Together
If possible, take your child to visit their new school. Show them where important areas like the classroom, bathrooms, and playground are. Familiarising them with the space can reduce first-day jitters and build excitement.
4. Encourage Social Skills
Kindergarten is a time of new friendships. Encourage your child to practice taking turns, sharing, and using polite language. Role-playing scenarios, like introducing themselves or asking to join a game, can help them feel more confident in social situations.
5. Talk About the Excitement Ahead
Focus on the positives of starting kindergarten—making new friends, learning new things, and playing in a bigger playground. Address any concerns they may have and reassure them that feeling a little nervous is okay. Let them know how proud you are of this big step they’re taking!
At Kreation Kidz, we’re so proud of our graduates and their journey toward kindergarten. We know they’ll shine in their new schools, and we’re here to support them every step of the way. Best of luck to all our little learners!
